Maurício de Souza is available for private drum set instruction, clinics, and workshops.

 

Due to the current COVID 19 pandemic, de Souza is currently teaching online.

 

De Souza studied with world renowned jazz drummer and master teacher Joe Morello for eight years. He has a Bachelor's degree in jazz performance from Rowan University and a teaching certification (K-12) from William Paterson University. He has taught students privately of various ages and levels of proficiency.

 

With his group, Bossa Brasil®, he did a Brazilian jazz workshop for WBGO.

 

De Souza has 29 years of professional performance experience. He has played in numerous cover bands, ranging from pop/rock to heavy metal. As a classical percussionist, he has played with many professional orchestras and, at the college level, with many percussion ensembles. As a professional jazz drummer, de Souza plays both traditional and Brazilian jazz styles and directs/performs with his own groups (Maurício de Souza Group and Bossa Brasil®).
